About Us

The story of Salida del Sol began over 30 years ago when our founder, Alida Wasmuth, was searching for a breed that wouldn't trigger her allergies. She discovered the allergy-friendly Havanese breed, and imported her first dog, Celine, from Cuba. Alida was captivated by their charming personalities and beautiful heritage. From that foundation, she developed a highly respected lineage focused on excellent health, with many of her Havanese achieving Grand Champion status with the CKC.

​Today, we proudly preserve those original cuban lines. Alida's legacy is now carried forward by her daughter-in-law Jennifer and granddaughter, Paige. Spanning 3 generations, our family remains devoted to raising high-quality puppies that bring joy and companionship to wonderful homes.  ​

Exceptional Health: All of our breeding dogs undergo health testing to ensure long-term wellness of your future puppy.

CKC Registration: Every dog in our program is fully registered with the Canadian Kennel Club

Wonderful Temperaments: Havanese are famous for their joyful, affectionate personalities! They are stable, loving, and absolutely wonderful with children.
